A pentagon shape is a flat shape or a flat (two-dimensional) 5-sided geometric shape. In geometry, it is considered as a is a five-sided polygon with five straight sides and five interior angles, which add up to 540°. Pentagons can be simple or self-intersecting.

Is a pentagon a convex or concave?

A planar polygon is convex if it contains all the line segments connecting any pair of its points. Thus, for example, a regular pentagon is convex (left figure), while an indented pentagon is not (right figure). A planar polygon that is not convex is said to be a concave polygon.

What is pentagon and example?

A pentagon is a polygon with 5 sides and 5 angles. The word “pentagon” is made up of two words, namely Penta and Gonia, which means five angles. All the sides of a pentagon meet with each other end to end to form a shape. Therefore, The number of sides of a pentagon = 5.

Is a pentagon a 7 sided shape?

More than Four Sides

A five-sided shape is called a pentagon. A six-sided shape is a hexagon, a seven-sided shape a heptagon, while an octagon has eight sides… The names of polygons are derived from the prefixes of ancient Greek numbers.

What does pentagon look like?

In geometry, a pentagon is a five-sided polygon with five straight sides and five interior angles that sum up to 540° . A pentagon shape is a plane figure, or flat (two-dimensional) 5-sided geometric shape.

Is any 5 sided shape a pentagon?

In geometry, a pentagon (from the Greek πέντε pente meaning five and γωνία gonia meaning angle) is any five-sided polygon or 5-gon. The sum of the internal angles in a simple pentagon is 540°. A pentagon may be simple or self-intersecting. A self-intersecting regular pentagon (or star pentagon) is called a pentagram.

What is a 99 sided shape called?

What is a 99 sided shape called? pentagon (5-gon), dodecagon (12-gon) or icosagon (20-gon) — with the triangle, quadrilateral and nonagon (9-gon) being notable exceptions. 8 sided shape are often used in geometry, architecture, and even road signs.

Is there a 7 sided shape?

In geometry, a heptagon is a seven-sided polygon or 7-gon.

What is a 10000 sided shape called?

In geometry, a myriagon or 10000-gon is a polygon with 10,000 sides. Several philosophers have used the regular myriagon to illustrate issues regarding thought.

What's a 13 sided shape called?

A 13-sided polygon, sometimes also called the triskaidecagon.

What is a real life example of a hexagon?

One of the most common and naturally occurring examples of a hexagon is a honeycomb. The six sides, six vertices, and six angles of each cell of a honeycomb make it a perfect example of a hexagon.

Why Pentagon is a 2D shape?

The diagonals bisect each other. Pentagon Any 2D shape with 5 sides. Perimeter The distance all the way around the edge of a 2D shape. To find the perimeter of a shape, add together the lengths of all the sides.

What does a rhombus look like?

A rhombus looks like a diamond

Opposite sides are parallel, and opposite angles are equal (it is a Parallelogram). And the diagonals "p" and "q" of a rhombus bisect each other at right angles.

Is a concave pentagon?

Concave or Convex

A convex pentagon has no angles pointing inwards. More precisely, no internal angles can be more than 180°.

Is a rhombus convex or concave?

A rhombus with congruent sides could have sides that all measure four inches in length. A square is a parallelogram with four congruent angles (right angles) and four congruent sides, and it has all the properties of a parallelogram, rectangle, and a rhombus. Parallelograms are convex quadrilaterals.

How do you tell if a shape is concave or convex?

The difference between convex and concave polygons lies in the measures of their angles. For a polygon to be convex, all of its interior angles must be less than 180 degrees. Otherwise, the polygon is concave.

What is a infinite sided shape called?

In geometry, an apeirogon (from the Greek words "ἄπειρος" apeiros: "infinite, boundless", and "γωνία" gonia: "angle") or infinite polygon is a generalized polygon with a countably infinite number of sides.

What's a 6 sided shape called?

In geometry, a hexagon (from Greek ἕξ, hex, meaning "six", and γωνία, gonía, meaning "corner, angle") is a six-sided polygon or 6-gon. The total of the internal angles of any simple (non-self-intersecting) hexagon is 720°.

What is a 15 sided shape?

In geometry, a pentadecagon or pentakaidecagon or 15-gon is a fifteen-sided polygon.

What do we call a four sided shape?

Meaning. A quadrilateral is a polygon that has exactly four sides. (This also means that a quadrilateral has exactly four vertices, and exactly four angles.) Discussions of 2-D shapes sometimes refer only to the boundary (the line segments that form the edges of the figure) or to the interior as well.

What is a 28 sided shape called?

In geometry, an icosioctagon (or icosikaioctagon) or 28-gon is a twenty eight sided polygon. The sum of any icosioctagon's interior angles is 4680 degrees.

Are there 2 sided polygons?

In geometry, a digon is a polygon with two sides (edges) and two vertices. Its construction is degenerate in a Euclidean plane because either the two sides would coincide or one or both would have to be curved; however, it can be easily visualised in elliptic space.

Is there a 20 sided shape?

In geometry, an icosagon or 20-gon is a twenty-sided polygon. The sum of any icosagon's interior angles is 3240 degrees.
