Where is PPC and OPC cement used?

Use of PPC and OPC

They can be reliably utilized in the construction of marine structures, masonry mortars and plastering, hydraulic structures. Besides, they are popularly used in mass concreting works, such as dykes, sewage pipes, dams, etc. PPC is also employed in all other applications where OPC is used.

Can we use PPC cement for slab?

Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) is used for the construction of houses, schools, and residential building slabs. PPC is cheaper than ordinary Portland cement. Thus to reduce the building making cost, PPC should be adopted. Both the PPC and OPC cement is used in the construction of slabs.

Which cement is better OPC or PPC?

PPC produces highly durable concrete as it has low water permeability compared to OPC. PPC has low initial setting strength compared to OPC but hardens over a period of time with proper curing. And PPC is cheaper also compared to OPC. ... OPC is highly applicable where fast pace of construction is required.

Where is PSC cement used?

PSC has been voted as the most suitable cement for concrete pavements, mass concrete applications, high performance or high strength concrete, structures and foundations, pre-cast concrete such as pipe & block, concrete exposed to sea water and marine application.

Which cement is best for roof?

Use of OPC 53 grade and PPC ( Portland pozzolana cement) is the best cement for roof dhalai and for all type of RCC structure like footing, slab, beam and column.

Which cement is better 43 grade or 53 grade?

The fineness in cement generates early gain in strength, but along with high heat of hydration. ... OPC 43 grade cement is generally used for non-structural works like plastering flooring etc. Whereas OPC 53 grade cement is used in the projects which require higher strength like concrete bridges, runways RCC works etc.

Which cement is best for RCC roof?

OPC 53 Grade cement is recommended in all RCC structures like footing, column, beam and slabs, where ever initial and ultimate strength is the major structural requirement.

Why fly ash is used in cement?

Fly ash is a pozzolan, a substance containing aluminous and siliceous material that forms cement in the presence of water. ... When used in concrete mixes, fly ash improves the strength and segregation of the concrete and makes it easier to pump.

Why is PPC cement used?

Both OPC and PPC are commonly used cements in construction. Now a days, PPC is used as a substitute of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC Cement). Since PPC contains pozzolanic materials, it helps to enhance the strength of concrete. The quantity of PPC required in making the concrete is less when compared to OPC.

Which cement is cheaper OPC or PPC?

Portland Pozzolana Cement is a variation of Ordinary Portland Cement. Pozzolana materials namely fly ash, volcanic ash, are added to the OPC so that it becomes PPC. Pozzolana materials are added to the cement in the ratio of 15% to 35% by weight. ... PPC is cheaper than OPC.

What are the 5 types of cement?

• Hydrophobic Portland Cement (HPC)
• Low Heat Portland Cement (LHPC)
• Sulphate-resisting Portland Cement (SRPC)
• Other Types in Cement.

What is the full form of PPC cement?

Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) is manufactured by a combination of pozzolanic materials. Pozzolana is an artificial or natural material that has silica in it in a reactive form. Along with pozzolanic materials in specific proportions, PPC also contains OPC clinker and gypsum.

Is cement code tested?
