Context API is easy to is use as it has a short learning curve. It requires less code, and because there's no need of extra libraries, bundle sizes are reduced. Redux on the other hand requires adding more libraries to the application bundle. The syntax is complex and extensive creating unnecessary work and complexity.

Will context API replace Redux?

The React Context API is React's way of managing state in multiple components that are not directly connected. Without Hooks, the Context API might not seem like much when compared to Redux, but combined with the useReducer Hook, we have a solution that finally solves the state management problem.

What is the difference between Redux and context API?

Context + useReducer are React features, and therefore cannot be used outside of React. A Redux store is independent of any UI, and so it can be used separate from React. The React DevTools allow viewing the current context value, but not any of the historical values or changes over time.

Does Redux uses context API?

Internally, React Redux uses React's "context" feature to make the Redux store accessible to deeply nested connected components. As of React Redux version 6, this is normally handled by a single default context object instance generated by React.

Why is Redux the best?

Redux is an open-source JavaScript library for managing application state. It works best in extensive, sprawling applications. ... In Redux, you don't have to fetch everything all the time. This is the reason why Redux remains the most popular flux-based tool for state management.

React Context vs Redux - Who wins?

Is Redux still used?

With all that said, Redux is still a great product. ... This is possible to handle in React as well, but the end result is still much easier to both share, reuse and reason about in Redux. A third use case is for those where the state of your application can change very rapidly.

Why Redux is bad?

What I Hate About Redux. If you use redux to develop your application, even small changes in functionality require you to write excessive amounts of code. This goes against the direct-mapping principle, which states that small functional changes should result in small code changes.

Can I use both Redux and context API?

It really depends. Sometimes you want to keep some state local to some feature but don't want it leaking into your overall store so it might make sense to use Contexts. Other parts might be cross-cutting and it may make sense for Redux. It's all up to your use case.

How does the context API work?

The React Context API is a way for a React app to effectively produce global variables that can be passed around. This is the alternative to "prop drilling" or moving props from grandparent to child to parent, and so on. Context is also touted as an easier, lighter approach to state management using Redux.

Is Redux needed with hooks?

Redux and React Hooks should be seen as complements and also as different things. While with the new React Hooks additions, useContext and useReducer, you can manage the global state, in projects with larger complexity you can rely on Redux to help you manage the application data.

Where is context and Redux used?

useContext is a hook. Redux is a state management library. It is used to share data. It is used to manage data and state.

Why use Redux when we have the context API?

So Redux works around the idea of having a central state called a store. To change the state, a component has to dispatch an action. The action is then passed on to the reducer, which changes the state of our application.

Do you need Redux?

Redux is most useful when in cases when:

You have large amounts of application state that are needed in many places in the app. The app state is updated frequently. The logic to update that state may be complex. The app has a medium or large-sized codebase, and might be worked on by many people.

What is replacing Redux?

Based on its transparent reactive programming, MobX is widely used as a replacement for Redux.

Do hooks replace Redux?

But the statement "can context + hooks replace redux?" is false. I've found this pattern to replicate my use cases of redux (code below). The idea is that the setValue function fires an event with a parameter carrying the value and the event handler updates the hooks internal state.

Is Redux saga dead?

Redux - Not Dead Yet! Why React Context is Not a "State Management" Tool (and Why It Doesn't Replace Redux) When (and when not) to Reach for Redux.

What is the downside of context API?

So far, this hasn't been a problem for our app because if the component doesn't rerender whenever the value of the context changes, it will never get the updated value. However, the rerendering will not be limited to the component consumer; all components related to the context will rerender.

What is context API used for?

The Context API can be used to share data with multiple components, without having to pass data through props manually. For example, some use cases the Context API is ideal for: theming, user language, authentication, etc.

What is context API interview questions?

What is the purpose of context API in react? If a child component at nth level require a property from a parent component at any level, the information needs to be passed one level by level through props. In an application with lot of nested components, it is difficult.

Can we replace Redux with context?

But now it's possible to replace Redux with React Hooks and the Context API. In this tutorial, you're going to learn a new way of handling state in your React projects, without writing excessive code or installing a bunch of libraries — as is the case with Redux.

What is use of Redux in React JS?

React Redux is the official React binding for Redux. It allows React components to read data from a Redux Store, and dispatch Actions to the Store to update data. Redux helps apps to scale by providing a sensible way to manage state through a unidirectional data flow model. React Redux is conceptually simple.

What is the use of Redux connect function?

The connect() function connects a React component to a Redux store. It provides its connected component with the pieces of the data it needs from the store, and the functions it can use to dispatch actions to the store.

Is Redux frontend or backend?

It should be clear that Redux can be used for the client side (frontend) with user interfaces. However, since Redux is just JavaScript, it can also be used on the server side (backend).

Is Redux trustworthy?

Very good Purchase. It is an reliable system which is working fast, hardware is from good brand companies and enough possibilities to upgrade the PC in the future in case desired.

What is the benefit of Redux?

Redux allows you to manage your app's state in a single place and keep changes in your app more predictable and traceable. It makes it easier to reason about changes occurring in your app. But all of these benefits come with tradeoffs and constraints.
